ARL Member Libraries as of January 1, 2012 · 121 ARL Member Libraries as of January 1, 2012 The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) represents the interests of 126 libraries that serve major North American research institutions. ARL operates as a forum for the exchange of ideas and as an agent for collective action to influence the forces affecting the ability of these libraries to meet the future needs of scholarship. The ARL Statistics and Assessment program is organized around identifying, collecting, analyzing, and distributing quantifiable information describing the characteristics of research libraries. The program offers publications and special member services, and collaborates with other national and international library statistics programs.
