Use this line to report the number of years of professional experience each librarian has had at your institution. This figure must not exceed the number reported as Total Years of Professional Experience on the main part of the form. 6. Race and Ethnicity: We follow the Standards for the Classification of Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity used by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget to collect the racial data in the U.S. Census. According to the standard, there are five minimum categories for data on race (American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and White) and one category for data on ethnicity (“Hispanic or Latino”). Multiracial respondents have the option of choosing multiple responses to the race question by selecting all racial categories that apply to them. Canadian libraries have the option of leaving the following columns blank: a. Ethnicity should be indicated by coding 1 to indicate if the person is of Hispanic or Latino ethnicity, and coding 0 otherwise. The definition of Hispanic or Latino ethnicity is: A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. b.
