• Out of 113 ARL university libraries, 77 responded to this survey.1
• Law libraries reported median values of 313,574 volumes held and 7,435
volumes added. Also, these libraries employed the full-time equivalent of
2,259 staff members in the fiscal year 2004-05.
• Responding libraries reported total expenditures of $200,223,137.2 As seen in
the graph below, materials expenditures made up the largest portion of the
total, with 46.4% of aggregated expenses falling under a materials-related
category.
• Law libraries reported a total of $11,858,683 on electronic materials, or a
median of 13.69% of their total materials budgets. This includes a total of
$10,235,586 on electronic serials.
