NOTRE DAME
1.b ,1.b.i Fewer volumes were added this year in the Law Library because 1) a relatively flat budget required us to divert money for new
monographs to ongoing continuation costs and 2) renovation work reduced amount of space available to store newly-acquired
volumes.
1.b ,1.b.ii The volumes withdrawn number was lower in 2008/2009 in the Law Library because we withdrew more than our normal rate
in 2007/2008 in anticipation of less space being available during renovation.
16.a The Law Library experienced a reduction in monographic purchases due to 1) flat budget requiring a diversion of resources
into the maintenance of continuations and 2) space constraints due to renovation made the purchase of fewer monographs
necessary.
16.d Funds recorded in this category in 2007-2008 for the Law Library have moved to "Other operating expenditures" (Q20) in 2008-
2009.
17 Reduction in the cost of binding for the Law Library was due to 1) an unusual increase in binding during 2007-2008 in
anticipation of renovation and 2) a delay in binding some materials until after renovation.
20 The increase of expenditures in this category for the Law Library is due to the reclassification of expenditures in category
"Miscellaneous Materials Expenditures" (Q16d) and a general increase in expenditures in travel, library infrastructure,
equipment, moving expenses, maintenance, educational opportunities, rental facilities, etc.
24.b The Law Library experienced increased costs due primarily to increases in OCLC costs and increased usage in our cataloging
area.
25 Costs for Computer Hardware and Software increased this year for the Law Library due to increases in spending on some
new products and services, including LTI Authority Control and Serials Solutions 360 service.
26 The Law Library experienced an increase in interlibrary loan costs due to increased activity as a result of much of our
collection going into storage during renovation.
